HW: Read: Its' Tyme to Let Luce! and Highlight and take notes on margins
In class:
Continue with powerpoint
~4 corners activity: Have written on bullentin boards around 4 corners of room: Agree, Strongly Agree , Disgaree and Strongly Disagree. Students will facilitate around the room depending on their reaction/ opinion to the question of slides and debrief with group by writing a statement as to why they choose that corner accordingly to question.
- Highlight/underline any unfamiliar words
- Begin Annotations and notes on how to take annotations of Source #1 as a class
Day 4/5 (8/14-15): Reading (Importance of Spelling)
- Graphic Organizer- PPT slides (13-15)
- Continue with powerpoint, students will begin graphic organizer
- Teacher will model the first graphic organizer and do as a class. Students will finish the graphic organizer in class
- HW: Whatever you do not finish in class on graphic organizer complete for HW
HW: Brainstorm potential outside reading book. Finish graphic organizer, and read Source #2
Day 6/7 (8/18-19): Constructed Response Question & Rubric
- Students will respond to four constructed responce questions and review the response rubric.
- Teacher will model the first one and students will practice a second one; Sentence frame to model what is expected
- Quotes, citing it correctly and identify what it means, and what does it prove or show to support the authors claim: Total of 3 Sentences
- Begin as a class annotations (Hihglighting, underlining, paraphrasing) on source #2 by Lee Simmins first 9 paragraphs where we discuss as a class
Day 7/8 (8/20-21): Writing/Organizing the Essay
Discuss components of a persuasive paper
Notes on persuasive power point
Day 9/10 (8/21-22): Preparing to Score/ Outside Reading Book due for check off

- Student will read the prompt, prewrite and compose their writing. We will go over traditional parts of the essay, review the sources, take notes, plan, draft, revise, and edit their letters. Review the information about how your argumentative letter will be scored; then begin writing.
